At the heart of our program are great cows. We focus on good temperament, great structure, and solid maternal traits and strong evidence to back their quality and performance.
Stairway to Heaven
Stairway to Heaven has outstanding length, sound structure and a great temperament. Her EBV’s are exceptional with growth EBV’s for 200, 400, 600 days in top 1%, carcase weight in top 1%, IMF in top 3%, EMA in top 4%, rib and rump fats in top 20% for the breed, combined with a shorter gestation length and a scrotal size EBV in the top 5%. This combination of traits results in her been in the top 1% for the Domestic Terminal, Export Maternal and Export Terminal index’s and the top 3% for the Domestic Maternal Index. She will play an important part in Stellar’s ongoing breeding program.
Spirit in the Dark
Spirit in the Dark has EBV’s in the top of the breed with a shorter gestation length in the top 5%, 200-day growth rate in top 4%, and 400 and 600 day growth rates in the top 2%. Her scrotal size EBV is in the top 6% and carcase weight EBV is in the top 1%, EMA in the top 2% and retail yield in top 10%. These strong characteristics result in her being in the top 1% for the Domestic terminal, export maternal and export terminal indexes and the top 2% for the domestic maternal index. This is combined with great length, sound structure and an outstanding temperament. We look forward to her contribution to building our herd.
Quarna
Quarna’s sire is Maungahina Kidmans Cove and her dam is JAD 60A Passion Star N73. She is a low birthweight cow (EBV in top 15%) with excellent carcase EBVs with rib fat, rump fat, and IMF all in the top 5%. She is another example of the type of herd cow that we have acquired to inject strong carcase characteristics and low birthweights into our herd and into our client’s herds.
She’s a Woman
She’s a Woman is a low birthweight (EBV in top 30%) and short gestation length (EBV in top 7%) cow with carcase rib and rump fats EVB’s in the top 8% and carcase IMF in the top 15%. This strong combination of maternal and carcase traits results in her being in the top 25% for the Maternal Export Index. She is structurally sound with a moderate frame size and good length and great temperament.
