Our History
Stellar was established in 2020 by Phil and Therese Wright, and is situated near the town of Cygnet, approximately one hour south of Hobart.
Our foundation genetics have been carefully selected and sourced from leading Australian and international studs. Initially, we used three rounds of embryo transfer of elite Speckle Park embryos, implanted into recipient herds on the mainland. This was followed by the purchase of additional elite females from the mainland and locally, in 2022.
Since then, we have been running on-farm Embryo Transfer (ET) and Artificial Insemination (AI) programs to accelerate genetic gain, with a focus in on delivering commercially relevant animals with low birthweights, sound structure and temperaments, and combined with solid growth and carcase characteristics.
On top of the more than thirty years of experience in cattle production, Phil and Therese bring their strong experience and expertise in Veterinary Science (Therese) and Agricultural Science (Phil) to drive the high quality of Stella’s genetics.
